With digestive and bone-related health problems rising across eastern India, Manipal Hospital, Dhakuria organised an awareness programme in Contai on Friday under its flagship initiative ‘Anveshana – Medical Education for Media’. The session focused on gastrointestinal and orthopaedic disorders and was addressed by Dr Goutam Das, Consultant – Gastroenterology, and Dr Vikrant Sinha Roy, Associate Consultant – Orthopaedics, Manipal Hospital, Dhakuria. Local orthopaedic consultant Dr Bidhan Roy was also present.
Doctors spoke about changing disease patterns, lifestyle-related causes and the importance of early diagnosis. Dr Das said conditions such as fatty liver disease, acid reflux and inflammatory bowel disease are increasing due to unhealthy food habits, stress and delayed medical attention.
Dr Roy highlighted the growing number of patients suffering from arthritis, spine disorders and joint degeneration, adding that ignoring early symptoms often leads to delayed treatment. The programme concluded with an interactive discussion on preventive care and the launch of a Media Privilege Card to support healthcare communication.
