Major Haul: Weapons Seized as Two PLA Members Held

Security forces conducted significant operations in the Imphal West and Imphal East districts, leading to the recovery of various arms and ammunition. Along Ngairangbam Tanoukhul Road, security forces discovered a cache that included a double barrel gun, a country-made pistol complete with a magazine, a total of 181 rounds of different caliber ammunition, three additional magazines, two .36 hand grenades, one detonator, and a Baofeng wireless handset along with its charger.

In a separate incident, an extortionist identified as Ningthoujam Ibungocha, also known as Sathouba Meitei, aged 38 and associated with the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) as a s/s Lieutenant, was arrested at Yaingangpokpi Bazar. A mobile phone and SIM card were confiscated from him during the arrest. Concurrently, security forces apprehended a s/s Private of the RPF/PLA, Athokpam Manaoton Meitei, aged 42, in the Sawombung area of Imphal East district.

Moreover, security forces dismantled four bunkers located at Mongkot Chepu within the jurisdiction of Litan Police Station, Ukhrul district, and recovered 24 rounds of empty fired cartridges from the site, indicating ongoing security operations against illegal arms and militant activity in the region.
