Major Arms Haul Seized by Police in South West Garo Hills

On Monday, police in South West Garo Hills discovered a substantial amount of ammunition during a search operation near Santogre village. This operation was conducted by a joint team from Salmanpara and Ampati Police Stations, responding to reliable information regarding potential illegal activity. The police searched a bamboo grove within the jurisdiction of the Salmanpara Police Station, where they found 55 suspected live anti-aircraft ammunition rounds buried at the site. Superintendent of Police, Vikash Varma, confirmed that the ammunition was seized in the presence of independent witnesses and in accordance with legal protocols. An investigation is ongoing to determine the origin of the ammunition and to identify individuals involved in this illegal activity. The South West Garo Hills police have called on the public to provide any information related to such unlawful acts to the nearest police station, ensuring confidentiality for informants and the promise of rewards for useful information.
