Maintenance of ONGC pipeline status update

With regards to the reported pipeline leakage and subsequent oil spillage at Kharaghar in Sivasagar District of Assam, we would like to update that ONGC has ensured immediate and diligent action to safeguard from any subsequent oil spillage in and around the area.

On July 8, 2023, ONGC, Assam Asset responded to a leakage in Kharaghar by promptly closing connected wells and isolating the affected line as a precautionary measure. Local villagers reported the issue at 7:30 AM. The leakage was promptly repaired within three hours.  Meanwhile, ONGC’s maintenance team also reached the site and initiated the cleaning process.

ONGC prioritizes safety in its operations, prioritizing people’s well-being above financial gains. The company has implemented extensive measures to safeguard residents from accidents and mishaps in operational areas, demonstrating its social responsibility. The leakage-causing pipeline is undergoing replacement. A 6 km laying down of the Charali- Changmaigaon corridor has been completed, and the remaining 1.5 section has recently obtained Right of Use (RoU). Work is progressing to lay down a new pipeline, which will be completed within the stipulated timeline.
