The Nagaland state unit of the Lok Janshakti Party (Ramvilas) has called on the Government of India and Naga negotiating groups to prioritize resolving the longstanding Naga political issue. This resolution emerged from the party’s state political affairs committee meeting held in Dimapur on July 18, 2024.
In a press release, LJP (RV) Nagaland state secretary general, Dr. A. Vikato Sumi, emphasized the urgent need for the state government, led by Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, and the political affairs committee to actively facilitate discussions with the central government for an early solution. “An early resolution to the Naga issue is the ultimate desire of the people and the primary reason for all 60 elected members to come together,” the release stated.
The meeting also noted that the proliferation of factions and their recognition by the Government of India complicates the issue. It underscored the necessity of a single, inclusive, honorable, and acceptable solution to the Naga political problem.
