LG Launches 2026 BEE Star Rated Air Conditioners, Sets New Benchmark

LG Electronics India Limited on Tuesday announced that it has become one of the first companies in the country to introduce a full range of air conditioners compliant with the new 2026 Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) Star Rating norms, well ahead of the peak summer season. The future-ready models have been made available in the market from early January, allowing consumers to switch to the latest energy-efficient technology without delay.

The new BEE norms significantly raise efficiency benchmarks across the industry. According to industry estimates, consumers upgrading to a 5-star air conditioner under the 2026 standards can save up to ₹19,000 over a 10-year period, depending on usage patterns and electricity tariffs. Under the revised framework, some models earlier classified as 5-star may now fall under 4-star, reflecting stricter efficiency thresholds rather than reduced performance. The latest LG lineup also features Precool technology, which uses geo-fencing and ThinQ automation to cool homes before users arrive, and Energy Manager+, which analyses usage history and helps users set realistic consumption targets.

Commenting on the rollout, Sanjay Chitkara, Co-Chief Sales and Marketing Officer, said the company remains committed to early compliance and sustainable product innovation as India transitions to tougher energy standards. In Kolkata, demand for energy-efficient air conditioners is steadily rising, driven by high summer humidity and increasing awareness of electricity costs. Retailers in the city expect strong interest in 2026 BEE-compliant models, particularly among urban households looking to reduce long-term power bills while upgrading to smarter cooling solutions.
