In a recent significant drug seizure operation, the Manipur Police made several arrests linked to illicit drug trafficking. The first arrest was of Md. Sabir Ahmed, aged 46, from Lilong Nungei, Thoubal district. He was apprehended at the North AOC area of Imphal-PS in the Imphal West district, where police confiscated 15.556 kg of brown sugar along with a TATA truck.
Additionally, security forces arrested two other individuals, Md. Mustaque Ahmed, 28, and Raj Khan, 28, who were found in the New Checkon area, near the Tribal Market under Porompat-PS in the Imphal East district. They were in possession of 15 soap cases containing Heroin No. 4, weighing approximately 417 grams, as well as a two-wheeled vehicle, a Honda Dio DLX.
Moreover, the Manipur Police detained two more suspects, Yumkhaibam Jenish Singh, aged 22, and Puthem Nanao Singh, aged 19, both residents of Andro, during an operation in the Sugnu bazar area under Sugnu-PS in Kakching district. Authorities seized 500 liters of DIC liquor and a four-wheeled A-Star vehicle with the registration number MN-01W-9278 from them. These incidents underscore the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to combat drug trafficking and illegal liquor trade in the region.
