The Kuki-Zo community, under the banner of the Committee on Tribal Unity (CoTU), observed the 22nd Remembrance Day at Martyrs’ Cemetery in Phaijang, Sadar Hills, Kangpokpi District, honoring those who lost their lives in past struggles. The solemn event saw prayers, wreath-laying ceremonies, and tributes as the community reaffirmed its call for a Separate Administration. The occasion also marked the launch of the fifth phase of Jangnadop, a humanitarian initiative by the Kuki Women Organisation for Human Rights (KWOHR) to provide relief to those affected by the ongoing conflict. The observance led to a complete shutdown in Kangpokpi District, with shops, businesses, and educational institutions remaining closed.
A Public Consultative Meeting was held, where community leaders discussed key issues and the path forward. CoTU General Secretary Lamminlun Singsit delivered a strong address, stating that the Kuki-Zo people’s demand for Separate Administration remains non-negotiable. He declared an Eight-Point Resolution, reaffirming the community’s unwavering stance.
The Eight-Point Declaration:
Uncompromising Stand: The struggle for Separate Administration will continue with no surrender or compromise.
Restricted Access: No free movement will be allowed in Kuki-Zo areas until their demands are addressed.
Relentless Protest: The fight will persist through mobilization, protests, and democratic resistance.
Zero Tolerance for Betrayal: Any individual prioritizing personal interests over the collective cause will be deemed a traitor.
Retraction of Governor’s Statement: The Manipur Governor must withdraw his remarks against Separate Administration.
No Arrests of Kuki-Zo Volunteers: Any arrest of volunteers will be met with consequences, and officials will be held accountable.
Rejection of Imposed Peace: If the government enforces peace without addressing the Kuki-Zo issue, a complete boycott of the ruling government will follow.
Final Demand for Union Territory: The demand for Separate Administration as a Union Territory with Legislature is non-negotiable.
