Kuadrat opens up about the sixth foreigner, the East Bengal coach’s bird’s eye on the ISL title

East Bengal revealed the next season’s team in a novel way. The East Bengal coach and the entire team were present at Emami’s Art Gallery along the bypass on Monday. That’s where the whole team made their debut. And in this event, coach Carles Cuadrat talked about the next season.

The red-yellow coach is determined to win the trophy in the new season as well. However, team captain Clayton Silver’s primary target is to secure the top six of the ISL. Meanwhile, the sixth foreigner is yet to be finalised. Quadrat wants to finalise the sixth foreigner before the ACL 2 qualifier on the 14th. But in no rush, the red-yellow Spanish coach has taken a slow approach to the sixth foreign selection.

On this day, Kuadrat told reporters, “This time, the expectations of the supporters have increased for us. The fans started believing in us. The team-building has also been quite good. We are ready to take on the challenge. We are mentally prepared for all kinds of competition. I don’t want to stop in the playoffs. I want to win the ISL trophy. Also, we have to move step by step. First, there is the Durand Cup. You have to play well there. Whatever competition we play in, we have to try to win. After a long time, we have a good team. The fans are also happy to win the club trophy. However strong the opponent is, we want to be stronger.’

Kuadrat added, ‘To be honest, a lot has happened in the last year. The biggest difference is that now there is hope for our team. People are trusting us. I reached two finals and won one. I didn’t think I would get so much. Meanwhile, captain Clayton Silva’s goal is a little different. He claimed, ‘First we have to finish in the top six. That is the primary goal. After that, the next goal can be thought of.

Kuadrat claims about the sixth foreigner, “The work of selecting the sixth foreigner is going on.” Hopefully, it will be completed on time. We still have some time. Hopefully, the sixth foreign selection will be completed before the 14th. After that, it will be seen how quickly the visa problem for that footballer is solved. Only then will I understand whether I can play that foreigner in the 14th match.

After seven seasons in Indian football, Quadrat feels this East Bengal team will be one of the best he has ever coached. Explaining the reason for this, the Spanish coach said, “During my stay in Bangalore, I was called a set-piece coach. I have played many other roles. Before I came in, this team lost 5-6, 4-6. There was a lack of strategy. Last time, we changed that. I did not score in 10 matches. I was able to show teamwork. This time, we are ready to win the ISL. We have to be more aggressive.
