KTU Holds Special Worship Ceremony Seeking Well-Being of Students

Following the seminar on “Manipuri Khunaida Mahei Lairembigi Phida,” the Khongnangthaba University organized a worship ceremony for Maheigi Lairenbi, the Goddess of Learning, at the Kangleipak Medical and Nursing Institute. Prof. Naorem Joykumar, Vice-Chancellor, served as Chief Guest, with Dr. Khaidem Jayanta Meitei presiding and Prof. K. Bheigyachandra attending as Guest of Honour. Prof. Bheigyachandra highlighted the Goddess’s significance in Meitei society and noted that, although worship had historically declined, the university has revitalized the tradition. He urged students to worship the Goddess, known as “Humbu Naoreng Sungbi, Ima Singja Khongbi,” to honor their heritage. Prof. Joykumar encouraged students to embody the spirit of the Goddess to enhance their focus on studies, asserting that maintaining discipline and respect for elders will cultivate moral values and benefit their learning journey.
