Kolkata Hosts North East Integration Rally

The North East Integration Rally commenced on January 4 in Kolkata as part of a month-long initiative focused on enhancing regional integration and fostering connections among North Eastern states. The inaugural session featured a diverse group of attendees including public representatives, cultural figures, and civil society members, notable among them were AL Hek, MLA, and former minister; Lopamudra Dutta Choudhury; and celebrated artiste K. Bobin, who performed the rally’s official song. Speakers at the event emphasized the initiative’s potential to evolve into a significant movement for unity, while underscoring the necessity for ongoing interactions between regions. Key objectives of the rally include promoting infrastructure development, expanding economic opportunities, fostering cultural exchanges, and improving interactions among people from various states. The rally received enthusiastic support in Panihati, Kolkata, where local community members gathered to welcome participants. The pre-launch ceremony took place on December 24, 2025, in Lamshang, Imphal, setting the stage for the 2026 edition under the theme of Peace, Progress, and Prosperity, aiming to highlight development, connectivity, and social cohesion. The event is slated to conclude on February 4.
