Kohima celebrates Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas 2024 with a tribal walkathon

In keeping with India’s 75th Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations, the Tribal Walkathon honoring Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas 2024 was held in Kohima on Friday. The ceremony was formally kicked off by the special guest, Dr. Kekhrie Yhome, Advisor for School Education & SCERT. In order to show pride in India’s rich cultural legacy, he underlined the significance of recognizing and appreciating the significant contributions made by tribal tribes to the country’s history and culture.

People from several Nagaland tribes enthusiastically participated in the walkathon, wearing vibrant traditional clothing. It started from the Nagaland Legislative Assembly Gate at 7:00 a.m. and ended at the Nagaland Civil Secretariat Gate. The event, which was part of the Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas celebrations, was a visually impressive and significant tribute to Nagaland’s rich tribal diversity because of the colorful display of traditional costume that highlighted each tribe’s distinctive heritage. Angelina Tajen, NCS Secretary, Tribal Affairs Department, gave a welcome speech before M. Kichung, Nodal Officer, mediated the session.
