Kayak reports a surge in travel interest among Indians

KAYAK, the world’s leading travel search engine, reports a rise in travel interest among Indians as the festive period of Diwali approaches. KAYAK’s consumer research of 1,200 Indians revealed that 98% of respondents plan to travel within India during the festive period, starting from Navratris and Dussehra and ending with Diwali and BhaiDooj. Meanwhile, 60% plan to travel internationally, with 3 out of 5 respondents intending to return to their hometowns.

KAYAK launches updated Best Time to Travel tool with ChatGPT integration. KAYAK search data shows a 29% increase in domestic flight searches between January and August 2023 and a 14% increase in international flight searches between October and November 2023. 72% of Indians plan to spend similarly or more on travel this festive season, with 4 out of 5 planning to reduce discretionary spending on gadgets and OTT to increase their travel budgets.

KAYAK has partnered with Indian film actor Mrunal Thakur to promote the ease of booking family or solo travel during the upcoming festive season. Actor and campaign ambassador, Mrunal Thakur said, “KAYAK is the ultimate travel buddy who helps me find great deals on flights, hotels and even car rentals.
