Union Minister for Tribal Affairs, Jual Oram, visited Nagaland’s Zunheboto district to review the progress of various government schemes in the Akuhaito Aspirational Block. He was accompanied by Advisors H. Tovihoto Ayemi (Tribal Affairs), K.T. Sukhalu (Food & Civil Supplies and Legal Metrology), and MLA Er Picto Shohe.
Addressing a gathering at the Multi-Purpose Hall, Oram emphasized that his visit was part of the central government’s vision to directly assess the implementation of welfare schemes and listen to local grievances. “My visit is to hear the people and ensure the schemes are effectively reaching every corner of the Northeast,” Oram said, underscoring Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s directive for ministers to engage with communities, especially in the Northeast, to achieve a “Vikasit Bharat” (Developed India).
Oram also highlighted the Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan, a major initiative launched on October 2, 2024, to uplift tribal villages in Aspirational Districts. He noted that Akuhaito Block would benefit from 25 targeted scheme interventions over the next five years, with a national budget of ₹79,156 crore.
