In a proactive move to bolster peace and stability in Manipur, a joint coordination meeting was held on April 8 between central security forces and Manipur Police. The meeting, convened by the Assam Rifles, aimed at enhancing inter-agency cooperation in sensitive districts like Churachandpur and Kakching. Officials from the Assam Rifles, Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), Border Security Force (BSF), and Manipur Police from Sugnu and Sangaikot stations took part in the meeting. Discussions focused on improving coordination in areas such as Sugnu and Lailophai, which have witnessed tensions in recent months.
The meeting, chaired by senior Assam Rifles officers, stressed the importance of regular joint patrols to maintain law and order and build mutual trust among forces. A key agenda was to ensure seamless cooperation for safeguarding vulnerable areas and securing developmental initiatives. Participants also highlighted the role of community outreach, with plans for joint efforts to support ongoing projects and engage with local populations.
In a parallel outreach effort, the Assam Rifles held a separate interaction at Kotlen in Kangpokpi district with village chiefs and civil society organisation (CSO) leaders. Sixteen community representatives attended the session, where the Assam Rifles assured continued support for the welfare of internally displaced persons (IDPs) and village infrastructure development.
