Tengnoupal Forest Division in co- ordination with Central Forest Division and Thoubal District Police on Saturday conducted a joint operation at the illegal stone quarrying sites of Wabachong and Tolen hill ranges. During the operation, one Tata vehicle was apprehended and seized. Accordingly, Preliminary Offence Report (POR) will be filed. Illegal stone quarrying is heavily restricted under the IFA 1927 and Forest Conservation Act, 1980. Deputy Conservator of Forests/Tengnoupal Forest Division, Mahamuda Begum, stated that Forests are under constant threat from organised mineral theft. She said that the joint operation proved that the State machinery is united in its resolve to protect natural heritage. The DCF/Tengnoupal Forest Division acknowledged crucial support and cooperation provided by Thoubal District Police under the guidance of Manoj Prabhakar M, IPS – Superintendent of Police, Thoubal District and Central Forest Division, Mantripukhri.
