Joint Army–Railway drill in Guwahati strengthens emergency response readiness

A high-level scenario planning exercise was conducted in Guwahati, involving the Indian Army’s Eastern Command and the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR). The conference aimed to enhance coordination and preparedness for national contingencies by understanding mutual strengths and optimizing resources between the two organizations. Its primary goal was to align operational mechanisms for a rapid and coordinated response in crises, especially in the strategically important Eastern sector. Participants discussed potential scenarios to strengthen operational readiness, emphasizing the development of dual-use infrastructure to improve logistics and yield savings through resource sharing. Senior officials from both the NFR and the Army shared insights to enhance inter-agency synergy, identifying collaboration areas and streamlining response strategies. This joint initiative fostered confidence among the agencies and established a framework for seamless integration between the Indian Army and Indian Railways, crucial for efficient responses during national emergencies.
