Jiribam Marks 37th National Road Safety Month with Awareness Programmers

The District Administration Jiribam, in collaboration with the District Transport Office, celebrated the 37th National Road Safety Month, 2026, under the theme “Sadak Suraksha Abhiyan” (“Road Safety, Safety to Life”) at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office Conference Hall. Deputy Commissioner Krishna Kumar, IAS, announced various initiatives to enhance road safety awareness, which include distributing helmets to bikers and disseminating pamphlets and stickers on traffic rules throughout Jiribam. A bike rally is scheduled for January 22 to further promote road safety awareness.

Kumar urged the District Transport Office to organize quiz competitions and a poster campaign in partnership with the district police, health department, and educational institutions. He also instructed the Public Works Department to implement road markings on the national highway and other significant roads in the district. Emphasizing the launch of the new District Transport Office, he encouraged the public to utilize its services for driving licenses, vehicle registration, and other transport-related needs.

The event included the Deputy Commissioner taking the Road Safety Pledge and was attended by senior officials, including Superintendent of Police Prakhar Pandey, IPS, along with other officials from the DC Office, PWD, and Health Department. Additionally, a social service camp was conducted at the Jiribam Higher Secondary Playground, the site designated for the 77th Republic Day Celebration. The Deputy Commissioner inspected the venue and directed department heads to collaborate effectively for the Republic Day festivities, highlighting community service and preparation efforts for the upcoming celebration.
