JAC Threatens Agitation Over Malemnganba’s Killing

A sit-in protest took place at Tejpur Primary School Ground in Kakching district following the murder of Chingakham Malemnganba (51) by unidentified assailants. This incident occurred on March 13 at around 5:30 PM, triggering widespread shock, fear, and anger within the community. In response, a Joint Action Committee (JAC) was established, which publicly condemned the brutal act and expressed solidarity with the victim’s family. The JAC has set a deadline of March 16 for the government to identify and arrest the murderers; failure to do so will result in the family and the committee refusing to accept the victim’s body.

The JAC has demanded a thorough and impartial investigation, emphasizing the urgency for the authorities to act. They highlighted the need for immediate arrests, proper protection for the victim’s family, and a commitment to a swift and transparent investigative process to ensure justice is served. The committee has also called upon the public and civil society organizations for support in their pursuit of justice, warning that if no actions are taken by the deadline, they will resort to democratic agitation for their cause.
