India scored 603 runs in the first test against South Africa. This is the most runs scored in an innings in women’s cricket in Tests. Harmanpreet Kaurera set a record at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Saturday. They broke the Australian record. Australia had earlier scored 575 runs. That was the most runs in an innings in women’s cricket.
Indian girls broke that record. Harmanpreet declared 603 runs against South Africa. Shefali Verma set a world record on Friday. She scored the fastest double century in women’s cricket. India set another world record on Saturday. This time, though, a team record. Richa Ghosh set the record with four hits. In the end, India declared victory as soon as Richa got out with 86 runs.
Shefali and Smriti Mandhana were definitely behind India’s 603. Shefali scored 205 runs. Smriti scored 149 runs. They made a pair of 292 runs. Jemaima Rodriguez (55) and Harmanpreet (69) scored some runs despite Shefali and Smriti getting out. However, they played a slower inning than the Shefalis.
Richa, however, was playing at her own pace. She scored 86 on 90 balls. Bengal’s Richa got out just 14 runs away from 100. Harmanpreet immediately declared. South Africa scored 106 runs until the tea break. They lost two wickets. Sneh Rana took both the wickets.
