A Landmark Example of Civil–Military Synergy and Professional Excellence
The Indian Army successfully concluded a 17-day Territorial Army Recruitment Rally at Meghna Stadium, Solmara Military Station, Tezpur, on 01 December 2025. Conducted from 15 November to 01 December 2025, the rally witnessed an exceptional turnout of 7,282 motivated aspirants from Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur, Tripura, Nagaland, Mizoram, Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim, West Bengal and the Andaman & Nicobar Islands. The enthusiastic participation of youth—including those from remote and high-altitude regions—reflected their strong motivation to serve the nation.
The rally was meticulously organised by a 121 Infantry Battalion (Territorial Army) The Garhwal Rifles under the Territorial Army Group Eastern Command, operating nearly 1,200 kilometres away from its home base in Kolkata. Despite the challenges of long distance and the challenging environment, the team displayed exceptional professionalism, coordination and logistical efficiency. Thousands of candidates were seamlessly managed through multiple testing stages over two continuous weeks, with strict adherence to fairness, transparency and discipline—hallmarks of the Indian Army’s recruitment ethos.
Understanding the long waiting periods inherent in documentation and medical examinations, the Garhwal Terriers ensured extensive administrative support for all shortlisted aspirants. Free meals, drinking water, rest facilities, Candidate Assistance Counters, specialised help desks for hill-district candidates, easy accessibility to photocopying and photograph printing, and instant downloading of online forms were provided to ease procedural and mandatory requirements.
A unique initiative “Project Nischay Jeet” motivational counter offered personalised counselling to candidates who could not qualify in the Physical Fitness Test, encouraging them to prepare better and return stronger besides educating them with similarly Recruitment Rallies in other locations of North Eastern Region —reflecting the Territorial Army’s commitment to nurture and motivate future talent.
Lieutenant General Gambhir Singh, AVSM, YSM, General Officer Commanding 4 Corps (Gajraj Corps), visited the recruitment rally on 29 November 2025, and he witnessed the transparent, efficient and youth-centric recruitment processes.
The rally’s execution was made possible through exemplary civil–military cooperation. Mr Ananda Kr Das, DC Sonitpur led District Administration provided daily supervision through an Executive Magistrate, the Health Department led by Mr Biman Kumar, deployed medical teams for continuous support, the Sonitpur Police ensured security and traffic management, and the Tezpur Municipal Corporation maintained sanitation and essential civic services. The generous support of Solmara landowners—who provided land for the conduct of the event—was instrumental in managing the large crowds efficiently.
The Territorial Army Recruitment Rally at Tezpur has provided an opportunity to thousands of youth from the Northeast and island territories, the rally not only strengthened national integration but also underscored the unwavering dedication and service ethos of the Indian Army and the Territorial Army.
