Recently The Siliguri Municipal Corporation (SMC) celebrated Raksha Bandhan organised in the vicinity of Bagajatin Park. Actually the festival was inaugurated by Siliguri Mayor Gautam Deb, who lit the ceremonial lamp to mark the beginning of the celebrations. In fact the event was attended by several key figures, including SMC Chairman Pratul Chakraborty, MMIC members and Ward Councillors Dulal Dutta, Mili Sinha, Gargi Chatterjee, Shova Subba, and others.
During the event, the dignitaries exchanged rakhi with each other, tied rakhi on passersby and offered sweets. Mayor Gautam Deb stated that this initiative aims to uphold unity and harmony in Bengal. This is actually very good thing and it shows that we have many good things within us. In Siliguri Raksha Bandhan is very important festival which is celebrated by everyone and everyone feel very happy in this festival. In fact everyone should celebrate this beautiful festival and should feel very happy to celebrate the bond between brother and sister.
