In Panitanki woman ‘swept away’ while crossing Mechi River

Recently a horrifying incident occurred in the Panitanki area of Kharibari where a woman was swept away by the strong current of the Mechi River in Panitanki of Kharibari. The woman’s body was later retrieved with the assistance of the Nepal police. As per details received, on Saturday, a group of people were actually commuting from near the bridge over the Mechi River. During this, the e-rickshaw drivers stationed on the bridge spotted the woman drowning. The matter was reported to the Nepal police and the deceased body of the woman was recovered near Pillar No. 91 of the Indo-Nepal border.

Upon receiving the information, the officials of the Panitanki Outpost in Kharibari actually arrived at the scene. After that the body was subsequently retrieved and transported to the North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH) for a post-mortem examination. At present, the entire incident is actually under further investigation. This is actually very sad incident and people need to take it seriously so that in future people feel safe.
