The helpline number 1930 in Nagaland has been operational from February 1, 2022, to assist victims of financial cybercrime. To report the fraud and provide information such as the account numbers involved, the amount lost, and transaction details, victims can give 1930 a call. The helpdesk can promptly block the scammers’ bank accounts or e-wallets upon receiving a report in order to stop further losses. In the event that the funds are frozen, legal action to recover the money may begin.
The helpline has received 943 complaints since it opened, and a total of Rs. 8.84 crore has been reported as fraud. Currently, all 2006 accounts have successfully had Rs. 1.20 crore frozen. Before the scammers may move or spend the stolen funds, authorities advise victims of cyber financial crime to call 1930 right away and report their cases. At the same time, victims are encouraged to report the occurrence to the closest police station so that it can be looked into further and dealt with.
In the meantime, Partha Sarathi Mahanta had formally assumed leadership as Guwahati’s Commissioner of Police. The introduction of a new WhatsApp hotline number, 6026900651, for city dwellers was an attempt to improve public access to law enforcement. Through this helpline, citizens may easily get assistance and make grievances. The service has been in operation around-the-clock, guaranteeing Guwahati residents round-the-clock assistance.
