A 75-year-old woman, identified as Oinam Ningol Thoibi Devi, was brutally murdered in her home at Singjamei Oinam Thingel, Imphal West district, on a Monday afternoon, which sent shockwaves through the community. Her body was found wrapped in cloth and hidden under a bed by her younger sister, Oinam Bimola, after Thoibi Devi had been reported missing since Saturday. The family alerted Bimola when they could not locate her for two days. Upon visiting, Bimola couldn’t find her sister, prompting a search that revealed Thoibi Devi’s body concealed in the house.

Preliminary forensic examinations indicated Thoibi Devi suffered multiple stab wounds all over her face and body, a slit throat, and a severed finger, all signs of extreme violence.
After the inquest, her body was transported to the RIMS mortuary for a post-mortem examination, and the police opened a case to investigate the crime. They are currently working to determine the motives behind the murder and interviewing people connected to the victim. The incident has profoundly unsettled the local community, leading residents to demand immediate justice and enhanced security in their neighborhood as they cope with the aftermath of this heinous crime.
