Illegal Mobile Access in Jail: Warder Arrested, Probe Launched

Manipur Police have arrested Sahid Shah, a 35-year-old Warder at the Manipur Central Jail in Sajiwa, for his involvement in facilitating the illegal use of mobile phones by inmates, including those imprisoned under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAP). Shah allegedly enabled these inmates to make and receive calls using unauthorized mobile devices. In connection with the arrest, multiple mobile phones and SIM cards have been confiscated. Ongoing investigations have revealed that financial transactions were occurring within the jail through the use of Shah’s UPI account. Authorities are continuing their inquiry to determine the full extent of Shah’s involvement and to identify any additional individuals connected to the First Information Report (FIR) registered at the Heingang Police Station in Imphal East district.
