In a significant milestone reflecting the growing culture of student-led entrepreneurship and deep-tech innovation, a startup of IIT Guwahati engaged nearly 2,000 students across 23 IITs at an Inter IIT Tech Meet, offering them hands-on exposure to cutting-edge algorithmic thinking and competitive problem-solving at a national level. The IIT-Guwahati BioNEST-incubated startup, Genuity IO Pvt. Ltd, co-sponsored the Inter IIT Tech Meet 14.0, the flagship annual technical festival that brings together some of the brightest engineering minds from all the 23 IITs. Founded by Adari Karthikeya, along with Mr. Shivansh Gupta, third year students at IIT Guwahati, Genuity IO played an active role in the event by designing and releasing a no-prep problem statement on algorithmic optimisation.
“As one of the sponsor-curated challenges, the problem statement encouraged participants to think critically and apply innovative approaches to real-world technical problems,” a statement issued by IIT-G on Monday said. The participation of a student-led, IIT Guwahati BioNEST-incubated startup in a national flagship technical event such as Inter IIT Tech Meet underscores the Institute’s robust ecosystem for deep-tech innovation and entrepreneurship. It also marks one of the few instances where a student-founded startup from IIT Guwahati has not only participated but actively shaped the technical agenda of a national-level IIT competition, traditionally led by established industry players.
Speaking about IIT Guwahati growing entrepreneurial culture, Swapnil Sinha, CEO, IIT Guwahati-BioNEST, said, “North East India’s startup ecosystem is rapidly evolving from promise to performance, with founders building scalable, innovation-driven ventures rooted in the region’s unique strengths. At IIT Guwahati, this transformation is being propelled by IITG BioNEST, which is enabling researchers and entrepreneurs to translate ideas into market-ready enterprises through structured mentoring, infrastructure, and industry linkages—positioning the North East as an emerging hub for deep-tech and bio-innovation.”
Beyond reinforcing IIT Guwahati BioNest position as a hub for innovation, the achievement also enhances the Institute’s national visibility as a leading centre for nurturing student startups that contribute meaningfully to India’s evolving technological landscape. Speaking about IIT Guwahati and BioNEST’s role in advancing the initiative, Adari Karthikeya, founder and CEO, Genuity IO Pvt. Ltd. said, “We are grateful for the continuous support and guidance from IIT Guwahati and BioNEST. Their encouragement enabled us to contribute to a national platform like the Inter IIT Tech Meet and engage with some of the brightest student innovators across the IIT ecosystem. This opportunity has been both humbling and motivating for our team.”
