Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) took a major step towards promoting road safety in Balasore, reaching out to students and staff members from CIPET: CSTS and KKS Women’s College. Over 2,000 participants attended the programme, designed to instill responsible road habits and a safety-first mindset among the youth.
The campaign emphasized early education as a key factor in shaping future riders and responsible citizens. Students learned practical aspects of road safety, including correct helmet use, adherence to traffic signals, pedestrian awareness, and anticipation of road risks. HMSI encouraged participants to view road safety not merely as compliance with rules, but as a practice that protects both individuals and communities. Through structured training and interactive sessions, HMSI aimed to foster long-term behavioural change. By involving schools and colleges, the programme ensured that young participants would take the message home, creating a multiplier effect across families and communities.
HMSI’s initiative is part of a nationwide effort to embed road safety awareness into society. The company operates 10 adopted Traffic Training Parks and 6 Safety Driving Education Centers across India, reaching over 10 million people so far. Activities included theory lessons on road signs and safe riding etiquette, practical training on Honda’s virtual riding simulators, KikenYosoku Training (KYT) for hazard prediction, and skill enhancement exercises for existing riders. In Balasore, the initiative also highlighted the local perspective, emphasizing how road safety awareness can reduce accidents in urban and semi-urban areas. Students and staff actively participated, making the event a community-wide effort to create safer roads for everyone. HMSI’s commitment aligns with its global 2050 vision of zero traffic fatalities and India’s national goal to reduce road accident deaths by half by 2030. By cultivating safety-conscious habits in today’s youth, Honda aims to nurture a generation of responsible riders and road users who prioritize safety at all times.
