In a joint operation, the Manipur Police and 38 Assam Rifles apprehended an active cadre of the Hmar People’s Convention (Democratic) from the banks of the Barak River near Tuisolen village in Jiribam district. The operation, conducted under Borobekra police station’s jurisdiction, underscores ongoing efforts to maintain law and order in the region. The arrested individual, identified as 48-year-old Lalchuoilo, a resident of Lungthuilien village in Pherzawl district, was found in possession of a cache of dangerous materials. Security forces recovered 20 explosive sticks, 11 detonators, a meter of safety fuse, and 44 soap caps containing a brown powder suspected to be contraband drugs, weighing approximately 457 grams.
As part of the broader peacekeeping measures, security forces have intensified area domination exercises and search operations in both hilly and valley districts of Manipur. Strict vigilance is being maintained along key national highways, with 221 and 351 vehicles carrying essential supplies safely escorted along NH-37 and NH-2, respectively. Vulnerable locations are under tight security, and sensitive stretches are patrolled to ensure uninterrupted vehicular movement. To bolster safety, 106 checkpoints have been established across the state. Authorities reported no significant detentions related to violations during these security efforts.
