The PMFBY scheme safeguards farmers from crop yield losses due to external risks like cyclones, hailstorms, floods, and natural fires. The state government conducts Crop Cutting Experiments to assess yield loss, and low yield data indicates a shortfall, allowing farmers to claim compensation.
The PMFBY scheme provides insurance coverage for all stages of the crop cycle, including pre-sowing, harvesting, and post-harvest risks, approved by the Department of Agriculture, Tripura. Farmers can obtain insurance through banks, Common Service Centres, or authorized HDFC ERGO agents in various districts. The scheme covers crops in Dhalai, Gomati, Khowai, North Tripura, South Tripura, West Tripura, Unakoti, and Sepahijalacan. The validity period details can be found on the Department of Agriculture’s website, and farmers can also self-enroll in the scheme through the farmers App.
