HCG Cancer Centre Kolkata hosts breast cancer awareness sessions

In a bid to increase awareness about breast cancer, HCG Cancer Centre Kolkata hosted a dynamic awareness session at Premchand Bhawan, drawing 248 ASHA (Accredited Social Health Activist) workers. The event, marking Breast Cancer Awareness Month, was inaugurated by Mrs. Reba Raha, Chairperson of Bhatpara Municipality, and Dr. Amarjeet Singh, COO of HCG Cancer Centre Kolkata, with a focus on the significance of early detection and preventive health measures.

Dr. Moumita Maity, Radiation Oncologist at HCG Cancer Centre, led an insightful session on self-examinations and regular check-ups, empowering ASHA workers with essential knowledge to promote health awareness within the community. The event concluded with a flash mob performance inspired by Michael Jackson’s “Dangerous,” where dancers held placards reading “Beat It,” symbolizing the fight against breast cancer and encouraging proactive health screenings.

In Kolkata, this initiative underscores the growing importance of healthcare education in the city. Kolkata is witnessing a surge in community-driven health programs, with local initiatives like this one playing a critical role in spreading awareness. HCG Cancer Centre Kolkata’s efforts align with the city’s increasing focus on women’s health and preventive care, further contributing to the region’s evolving healthcare landscape.
