The Himachal Pradesh water cess proposed to be imposed on hydropower production in the hill state was ruled unconstitutional and non-binding by the Haryana Assembly on Wednesday.
Members of the opposition Congress, which is currently in power in HP, endorsed the formal resolution that was proposed by Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar.
It was changed in the resolution to read “…not binding on the state of Haryana,” as suggested by Congress MLA B B Batra.
