Handloom Expo organizes in Kolkata to be dedicated to India’s rich handloom tradition

A grand special Handloom Expo will be held in Kolkata from 22 October 2024 to 28 October 2024. The event is being organized by the National Design Centre (NDC) in collaboration with the Development Commissioner (Handlooms), Ministry of Textiles, Government of India. The venue for this grand event will be Biswa Bangla Exhibition Centre, New Town, Kolkata, and the expo will be open daily from 11 am to 8 pm.

This expo is dedicated to India’s rich handloom tradition and its weavers. More than 75 handloom weavers, self-help groups (SHGs) and cooperatives are participating in this expo. Here one will get a glimpse of the unique weaves and traditional textile art of different states of India. The main objective of this week-long event is to connect the weavers directly with the buyers, exporters, designers and the general public, so that they can showcase and market their products widely.

 This expo will not only provide a new market to the weavers but will also give the general public an opportunity to get acquainted with the unique handmade textile heritage of India. Showcasing various state-specific handicrafts and weaving styles, the event will bring the hard work and skills of the weavers and artisans to the big platform. Visitors to this event will be able to enrich their wardrobe with the finest and authentic handloom products.
