Guv Highlights Historic Contribution of Manipuris to India’s Armed Forces

Ajay Kumar Bhalla, the governor of Manipur, attended the 10th Armed Forces Veterans’ Day-2026 celebration today at the Palace Auditorium, MSFDS, Imphal. The Governor honored Veer Naris and fifty-three outstanding and Gallantry Award-winning veterans on the occasion, recognizing their bravery, exceptional service, and lifetime contributions to the country. Governor Bhalla emphasized in his speech the nation’s ongoing thanks to its veterans, ex-servicemen, and their families as well as the Armed Forces’ unflinching loyalty. Veterans’ Day, he said, is a reminder of the sacrifices made to preserve India’s democracy, unity, and sovereignty.

The Governor further emphasized the significance of Manipuris in India’s military history, commending their outstanding contribution to national security and border protection. He reaffirmed the government’s dedication to the well-being of active duty members, veterans, and Veer Naris, including initiatives pertaining to skill development, relocation, healthcare assistance, and pensions. MLA Th Biswajit Singh, Chief Secretary Dr. Puneet Kumar Goel, Security Advisor Kuldiep Singh, prominent civil and police authorities, senior military and paramilitary officers, and a sizable contingent of veterans and ex-servicemen attended the occasion.
