The day was marked by special prayer services, festive feasts, and vibrant community celebrations, as people across the state gathered to observe the occasion with joy and reverence. The streets, homes, government offices, and commercial buildings were adorned with decorative lights and Christmas stars, creating a festive atmosphere. On Christmas Eve, groups of revellers sang carols and wished each other a “Merry Christmas,” spreading cheer throughout the night. At midnight, fireworks illuminated the sky, and the sound of church bells resonated through the air, marking the arrival of Christmas Day.
On Wednesday morning, churches were filled with people dressed in their finest attire, attending prayer services where the purpose of Jesus Christ’s birth was highlighted. Sermons emphasized forgiveness, love, and compassion, urging everyone to enter the new year with a heart full of kindness, in keeping with the teachings of Christ.The Christmas celebrations were inclusive, with many extending their feasts to non-Christians, fostering a sense of unity and goodwill. Nagaland’s Governor La Ganesan, Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, and Deputy Chief Minister Y Patton all extended their Christmas greetings to the people of the state. Governor Ganesan expressed his hopes for peace and joy during the season, saying, “As we celebrate this joyous Christmas season, may it bring peace, hope, and light into your life.
