Godrej Agrovet Limited (Godrej Agrovet), in partnership with ICAR-CIFE, has unveiled ArgoRid, a fish lice controller designed to address Argulus infections—a challenge impacting 48% of Indian aquaculture ponds and causing annual losses of $62.5 million. ArgoRid’s innovative formulation not only eliminates fish lice but also heals lesions, boosts immunity, and improves overall fish health, offering a scalable solution for both small-scale and commercial fish farmers.
Balram Singh Yadav, Managing Director, Godrej Agrovet, emphasized the product’s potential to drive efficiency and sustainability. “ArgoRid empowers fish farmers with a reliable tool, reinforcing India’s Blue Revolution efforts,” he stated.
Tamluk, a prominent fish trade hub in West Bengal, stands to benefit significantly from ArgoRid. By enhancing fish survival rates and quality, the product is expected to stabilize supply chains, increase trader profits, and meet growing consumer demand. This innovation could boost Tamluk’s role as a key player in the regional aquaculture economy.India ranks third in global fish production, contributing 8% to the total output.
