Godrej Agrovet announces major oil palm expansion in Tripura with new mill and R&D center

Godrej Agrovet Limited (GAVL) has announced a strategic expansion of its oil palm operations with the establishment of a cutting-edge Oil Palm Processing Mill and a Research & Development (R&D) center in Dhalai district, Tripura. This initiative is complemented by an increase in nursery capacity from 300,000 to 500,000 plants annually and the launch of “Samadhan,” a comprehensive support center designed to assist oil palm farmers.

The groundbreaking ceremony was marked by the presence of Tripura’s Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare Minister Ratan Lal Nath and Dr. Harikrishna Kulaveerasingam, Head of R&D at SD Guthrie Plantations, Malaysia. The R&D center will focus on creating high-yield oil palm seeds suited to local conditions, supporting GAVL’s goal to expand oil palm cultivation in Tripura to 10,000 hectares by 2027.

In Dhalai, the new developments by Godrej Agrovet are anticipated to positively impact the local market by creating a more stable supply of oil palm products. The expansion is expected to foster economic growth in the region, enhance product availability, and potentially stabilize prices, benefiting consumers and businesses alike.
