The Goalpara district administration and the district health society have been working diligently and successfully for the past few years in an effort to establish a district free of tuberculosis (TB). The district’s 42 Gaon Panchayats (GPs) were honored and recognized by the administration on Wednesday for successfully eradicating tuberculosis from their respective GPs.
In front of frontline social workers Sailen Das and Nani Das, Khanindra Choudhury, DC, presented the GPs with awards at a function held in this regard at the DC conference hall. Dr. Abdus Salam, the district TB control officer, and Dr. Jonbir Das, the joint director of health services, were also present. The Indian government started the “TB Mukt Panchayat” campaign in March 2023 with the goal of empowering local communities and enhancing community involvement in TB elimination operations in order to make every GP tuberculosis-free.
