The unexpected passing of Nigel Richard Goodman, a 67-year-old Bradford, UK visitor, has caused the Global Naga Forum (GNF) to express its deepest sorrow. On the evening of December 7, Goodman unexpectedly died while at Kisama for Nagaland’s famous Hornbill Festival. Goodman’s visit was a great honor that highlighted the international appreciation of their cultural legacy, the GNF stated in an official statement, adding that “His presence during the festival was in fact a testament to the international significance of our festival.”
The forum sends its sincerest sympathies to Goodman’s loved ones. At a moment when the group should have been celebrating and uniting, they had lost a very valuable guest. The GNF urged the Nagaland government to treat Goodman’s remains with respect and decency. In order to give the grieving family strength and consolation, the forum ended with prayers for Goodman’s soul. “May his soul find eternal peace, and may his loved ones find solace in this time of loss,” the note continued.
