Global Academic Collaboration: IIT Guwahati, Coventry University Group Sign MoU

The Indian Institute of Technology-Guwahati (IIT-G) has established a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Coventry University Group (CUG), UK, to enhance global research and innovation in artificial intelligence (AI) and healthcare. This strategic partnership aims to formalize collaboration in research, academic mobility, and joint degree initiatives. The MoU was signed during a visit from senior leadership at CUG, including Prof. Richard Dashwood, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research), who discussed the potential for a joint research colloquium involving experts from both institutions. The partnership emphasizes the integration of AI and data science in healthcare solutions. Prof. Devendra Jalihal, Director of IIT Guwahati, noted that the institution is becoming a key research center, collaborating with AIIMS and NIPER on health sciences, with a focus on medical devices and drug development. Additionally, IIT Guwahati’s forthcoming 400-bed research hospital is expected to facilitate collaborations between medical professionals and scientists from its School of Health Sciences and Data Sciences. Prof. Dashwood remarked on the importance of this collaboration for initiating impactful changes in AI and healthcare. This partnership highlights significant advancements in Indo-UK academic relations, positioning the involved institutions at the forefront of global healthcare technological transformation.
