GAFF 2026 Dates Announced: Festival Scheduled in Guwahati from January 22–25

The Guwahati Asian Film Festival (GAFF) has announced its official film lineup for the second edition, scheduled to take place from January 22 to January 25, 2026, at Jyoti Chitraban in Guwahati. Organized by Trending Now Media with support from the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC) and the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting of the Government of India, GAFF aims to celebrate Asian cinema’s diversity and foster cultural dialogue among filmmakers, critics, and audiences.

The opening film will be the Uzbek feature “Sunday,” directed by Shokir Kholikov, while the closing film is the Iranian feature “In the Land of Brothers,” directed by Alireza Ghasemi and Raha Amirfazli. Notable guests include Indian filmmaker Girish Kasaravalli as Chief Guest and Bollywood actress Sonali Kulkarni as Special Invited Guest for the closing ceremony.

Following a successful inaugural edition in February 2025, which saw positive participation from various Asian countries and included film screenings and discussions, the festival will showcase a more extensive and diverse selection of films this year. Over 200 films were submitted, with 90 entries from international filmmakers, reflecting the festival’s growing scope.

GAFF 2026 will feature a total of 26 films from ten Asian countries such as Vietnam, Mongolia, Uzbekistan, South Korea, Hong Kong, Japan, Myanmar, Iran, Kazakhstan, and China, alongside various Indian films in multiple languages, including Marathi, Bajjika, Malayalam, Hindi, and Assamese.

Besides screenings, the festival will host masterclasses, panel discussions, and interactive sessions, led by industry professionals, addressing cinematic craft and contemporary trends. As the only Asian film festival of its kind in the region, GAFF reinforces its role in promoting Asian cinema and enhancing cultural exchange through film.
