Manipur security forces arrested four active militants from different districts, recovering weapons, foreign currency, and other incriminating items. The crackdown comes as part of intensified efforts to curb militant activities in the state. In Imphal West, police apprehended two active cadres of the proscribed militant outfit Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP-Apunba) for their involvement in extortion. The arrested individuals, identified as Haobam Malemnganba Singh (22) and Sharuk Ahmed (18), were taken into custody from the Rupmahal Tank area under City Police Station. The duo had been demanding money from local shopkeepers. Security personnel recovered two mobile phones, a two-wheeler, and a side bag from them.
Meanwhile, in Tengnoupal district, security forces arrested two more militants belonging to different banned outfits. Nameirakpam Robert Meitei (26), a cadre of the United National Liberation Front (UNLF-K), and Mangshatabam Milanchandra Singh (28) of the People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK), were caught near BP-85 under Tengnoupal Police Station. The security forces seized 7,500 Kyat in Myanmar currency from their possession, raising concerns over cross-border militant financing.
