A first aid training programme held at Heirok Part II, Litan, was organized by Ningol Club and Humanity Service Foundation in collaboration with BABINA Hospital, supported by EcoNetwork Manipur. Dr. Lakshmi Kangjam, a Consultant in Emergency Medicine at BABINA Hospital, conducted the session, which emphasized Basic Life Support (BLS) and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) as vital life-saving techniques. The training aimed to educate participants on providing first aid in emergency situations, such as sudden collapses, prior to hospital arrival. Participants learned to identify symptoms related to heart attacks, cardiac arrests, and strokes, and were taught the immediate response protocols for such emergencies. Practical demonstrations included effective responses to heart attacks and assistance for stroke victims.
Moirangthem Inunganbi Chanu, General Secretary of Ningol Club, highlighted the importance of First Aid and CPR as essential life skills and stressed the community’s need for awareness and training in these areas. She expressed appreciation to BABINA Hospital for their support and to Dr. Kangjam for sharing her expertise. Chanu announced that additional training programmes are planned for the future at various locations. The training featured resource persons Dr. Kangjam and Sanathoi Moirangthem, a Nursing Educator, and was attended by approximately 30 participants.
