Fire Breaks Out at Railway Workshop in Dibrugarh, Causes Extensive Damage

A significant fire occurred at the railway mechanical workshop in Dibrugarh district, Assam, on Thursday, causing panic but thankfully resulting in no reported injuries. The workshop, known as the first mechanical railway facility in Northeast India, is situated at Kadamani. Smoke was first detected coming from a store within the workshop, prompting local residents and staff to immediately inform the authorities as thick smoke began to rise. In response, fire and emergency services deployed a rapid response operation involving approximately six fire tenders from the regions of Dibrugarh and Lahowal, who worked tirelessly to combat the flames for several hours. Preliminary investigations indicate that the fire may have originated from welding work being conducted inside the store, with officials suspecting that sparks from the welding process could have sparked the fire.
