‘Fatsung’ Nepali novel, nominated for the ‘Bank of Baroda RashtrabhashaSamman’ Awards

Twelve nominees, including the Nepali novel “Fatsung,” were revealed by Bank of Baroda for the Bank of Baroda Rashtrabhasha Samman Awards 2023. The award recognizes and promotes literary works in various Indian languages, making them accessible to Hindi readers through translations. Fatsung, a tale about soil and the source of life that transcends language and culture to tell the tale of humanity. It examines hopes, aspirations and dreams of a Pahari community.

At the event organised in Darjeeling, the author Mr. ChudenKabimo and the translator Ms. Namrata Chaturvedi participated in a panel discussion. The Bank of Baroda Rashtrabhasha Samman Award will award Rs. 21.00 lakh and Rs. 15.00 lakh respectively to authors and translators of shortlisted books.

 The winner will be announced mid-June 2023 in Delhi. Speaking on the occasion, Mr.SonamTsheringBhutia, Zonal Head& General Manager, Bank of Baroda said “The ‘Bank of Baroda Rashtrabhasha Samman’ award is a national platformfor talented Indian writers from different parts of the country and this initiative will further boost the Indian language literature as well as encourage literary translations.”
