Security forces have reported significant seizures of arms, ammunition, and explosives following extensive search operations in the fringe and vulnerable areas of Manipur’s hill and valley districts. The operations, aimed at enhancing security and area domination, have resulted in the recovery of a wide array of weaponry and munitions.
Security officers in the Bishnupur District discovered a sizable stash that included multiple handguns with magazines, an AK assault rifle, a.303 bolt action rifle, and a 12-bore single barrel gun. Eleven HE-36 hand grenades, eight detonators, and a variety of additional explosives and ammunition are also included in the recovery list. Remarkably, two makeshift mortar shells and an improvised mortar with a bipod were also taken from the Wainem, Keinou Maning, and Ayokpa Khun regions.
Five HE-36 grenades, an INSAS rifle with a loaded magazine, a 9mm pistol with an empty magazine, and a variety of other ammunition and tactical supplies were taken by forces during another operation in the Kakching District. The operation yielded the recovery of multiple blank bullets and a BP vest as well. Along with the recovery of guns, security personnel made sure that necessities were moved, using 65 and 54 cars, respectively, along NH-37 and NH-2. Strict security measures and the installation of 105 checkpoints around different districts resulted in the imprisonment of 224 people for offenses connected to the ongoing security activities.
