East Himalayan Trade Fair, Agri Expo To Be Held In Guwahati From Jan 22

The India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO), under the Union ministry of commerce and industry, will organise the 15th East Himalayan Trade Fair (EHTF) along with the second East Himalayan Agri Expo (EHAE) here from January 22 to 28, 2026. The events will be held at the Assam Engineering Institute Playground in Chandmari. Addressing mediapersons in Guwahati on Monday, Lt. Col. Harsh Kondilya, general manager of the fair division of ITPO, said: “The East Himalayan Trade Fair is one of ITPO’s flagship regional initiatives aimed at promoting inclusive economic growth, entrepreneurship, and market access in the Eastern and North-Eastern regions of India.”

“Building upon the success of previous editions, the 15th EHTF is expected to further strengthen trade linkages while offering a vibrant platform for MSMEs, startups, Self-Help Groups (SHGs), farmers, and entrepreneurs,” he said.The event will witness participation from several Indian states including Haryana, Bihar, Delhi, Rajasthan, which will showcase the rich cultural heritage, traditional crafts, and distinctive products of their respective regions through dedicated pavilions.

Key central and national-level institutions are also expected to participate.Moreover, after the encouraging response to its inaugural edition, the 2nd East Himalayan Agri Expo will once again be organised concurrently, focusing on agriculture, horticulture, organic products, processed foods, agri-equipment, and allied sectors.The Agri Expo will serve as an important platform for farmers, agri-entrepreneurs, FPOs, and institutions to exchange knowledge, showcase innovations, and explore market opportunities.

In addition to domestic participation, discussions are underway for international participation from countries such as Thailand and Afghanistan. These participants are expected to bring products such as Thai consumer and lifestyle goods and Afghani dry fruits, adding an international dimension to the fair and promoting cross-border trade engagement.The fair will also feature cultural performances, a multi-cuisine food court, and visitor engagement activities, making it an attractive destination for families and the general public. An extensive publicity campaign through print, electronic, outdoor, and social media is planned to ensure wide outreach and strong footfall.
