Deputy Chief Minister Losii Dikho visited the family of the late BJP MLA Vungzagin Valte in Churachandpur, assuring them of state government assistance. During the visit, he met Valte’s wife and sons, presenting a traditional shawl to honor the deceased legislator, who represented the Thanlon constituency and succumbed to injuries from a mob attack amid ethnic conflicts in Manipur. Valte passed away on February 21 at a Gurugram hospital. Dikho, a leader of the Naga Peoples’ Front, also engaged with the Zomi Coordination Committee (ZCC) to discuss justice for Valte’s family and the organization’s demands. He noted the tragic backdrop of escalating ethnic violence since May 2023, linked to the Meitei community’s push for Scheduled Tribes status, resulting in over 260 deaths and mass displacements.
