Don Bosco holds National Educational Confetence for umbrella schools in Shillong

The Governor of Meghalaya, C.H. Vijayashankar, attended the National Educational Conference of Don Bosco Schools (NECDBS), a prestigious annual gathering of Heads and Principals of Don Bosco Educational Institutions from across the North Eastern region. The conference aims to strengthen Don Bosco’s mission of imparting holistic, value- based and future-ready education for the youth. The Governor, in his address, appreciated the remarkable contribution of Don Bosco Institutions in shaping generations of students through the spirit and philosophy of St. John Bosco based on Reason, and Loving-Kindness.

He acknowledged the pivotal role played by Don Bosco schools in the North East in raising educational standards, improving teacher competence, encouraging skill-based learning, and nurturing responsible and compassionate citizens who contribute positively to nation-building. The Governor also expressed concern over the rising challenges of drug abuse and teenage pregnancy among young people in the North Eastern region. He stressed that educational institutions must remain proactive and vigilant in guiding students towards healthy choices, strong moral foundations and responsible behaviour.

He urged schools, teachers, parents and community leaders to work together in creating greater awareness, strengthening counselling support and building protective environments to ensure that the youth do not fall into harmful influences that can affect their future and the progress of society. He encouraged educators to adopt innovative pedagogies and technology-driven learning models to prepare young minds for future challenges. The Governor conveyed his best wishes to all participants and expressed confidence that the NECDBS conference will lead to enhanced collaboration, meaningful exchange of ideas, and renewed commitment towards advancing quality education across Don Bosco Institutions, the North Eastern region and the nation as a whole.
