The 2nd Senate Meeting of Dhanamanjuri University, Manipur, was held at the Durbar Hall, Lok Bhavan, under the chairmanship of the Chancellor of the University and Governor of Manipur, Ajay Kumar Bhalla. With the permission of the Chancellor, the Registrar of Dhanamanjuri University, Dr. R.K. Joteen Singh, initiated the proceedings.
Prof. W. Chandbadu Singh, Vice-Chancellor of Dhanamanjuri University, welcomed all the members of the Senate and the invitees and presented an overview of the university’s overall position and progress. In his address, the Chancellor also welcomed the MPs, MLAs, and other members of the Senate.
During his address, the Chancellor highlighted the university’s emergence as an important centre of higher education while preserving its long-standing legacy of highly reputed colleges that have delivered quality education at the collegiate level. Despite challenges arising from shortages of modern infrastructure such as classrooms, laboratories, research equipment, office space, libraries, and sports facilities, he expressed satisfaction with the university’s progressive approach towards excellence in education and research. He appreciated the university’s initiatives towards effective implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, including the introduction of the Multiple Entry and Multiple Exit system, emphasis on vocational and skill development in curricula, integration of the Indian Knowledge System, and promotion of holistic education.
When discussions on the agenda items commenced, the proceedings of the 1st Senate Meeting held on February 26, 2021, were placed before the August gathering by the Registrar for confirmation and approval. Prof. L. Nandababu Singh, Dean of the School of Mathematical and Physical Sciences, presented the proceedings of the Syndicate meetings held between December 2021 and December 2025.
Prof. S. Lanchenba Meetei, Dean of the School of Humanities, presented a summary of the DMU Annual Reports for the years 2022–23, 2023–24, and 2024–25. Rojendrakar Nongthomba, Finance Officer, DMU, presented the Annual Accounts Reports for the last three years, while Prof. N. Jayanti, Dean of the School of Business Studies, placed the Revised Estimates for 2023–24 and 2024–25, along with the Budget Estimate for 2025–26, for consideration and approval.
After the completion of discussions on all agenda items, the Registrar, DMU, proposed a vote of thanks to the members of the Senate. With the permission of the Chancellor and Governor of Manipur, the meeting concluded with an open invitation from the Vice-Chancellor to all Senate members to attend the 1st Dhanamanjuri University Convocation scheduled to be held on January 17.
